You may remember the tornado-producing storms from last Sunday. We were lucky in that they passed around us -- on both sides. Some were a few miles to the west, the others were a few miles to the east. This lightning photo is looking east. When I was a kid, we called this 'heat lightning,' because we could see it, but didn't hear anything. For us, this was a light-show.
Still, we did get other lightning and rain, and the storms were moving along at a rapid pace. In this photo, the small white 'spot' in the darker area of the photo is a star. The clouds (the lighter parts of the photo) look fuzzy because they were speeding along above me during the 12-second exposure.
As far as I'm concerned, that's enough for the season and I often think I'd like to be able to move to Bermuda in the spring, and then back here for the autumn. We'll see what Mother Nature comes up with in the next few months.
